In Double Rainbows
February 18, 2011 Recorded October 2010-January 2011 in Washington, D.C. and Ardmore, PA. Zac Halbrook - keys, vocals Chris McKenna - guitar, vocals Tom Hughes - bass Notes: Inspired by Paul Vasquez and paying homage to one of our favorite albums, these recordings represent the first Juno Day jam sessions to take place since the band disbanded in August 2009. The "songs" were recorded using GarageBand and the built-in mic on a MacBook Pro; they are improvised and are almost entirely from the moment of conception. The decision to release these specific recordings was made today, several minutes after it was found out that Radiohead was putting out their new album a day early....What does it mean? Well, nothing, really...but we happily stand behind this very naked look into what for us is a very joyous process. Recording took place at Zac's house in Washington, D.C. except for "Foxhole in Winter", which was recorded at my parents' house in Ardmore, PA, with our good friend Tom Hughes joining us on bass. The track listing and corresponding dates are as follows: 1. Grapes (10/17/10) 2. Now, That! (12/4/10) 3. Implicit (12/4/10) 4. Permanent Residence (12/12/10) 5. Room 19, Palacio Real (1/16/11) 6. Infinity Beers (12/12/10) 7. Maddie (12/5/10) 8. Portugal (12/11/10) 9. Foxhole in Winter (12/19/10) 10. A Hawk in Brooklyn (12/11/10) -Chris, 2/18/11 |
